The MSA has 2 leadership roles, president & VP. On Fridays, the president manages most MSA operations, planning meetings, and the primary khateeb. The VP assumes the responsibilities of the president if they’re unable to do so. A person can only serve one role for one school year.
One of the leadership roles must be a male unless a separate khateeb can be found that is reliable. If a suitable president can’t be found, the VP is appointed as the president.
Elections are in April of the preceding school year and serve for the whole school year. Only a rising 8th grader can serve as president, while any student at Southwest Academy can run for Vice President.
